Situation: Broadcast daily news to our Armed Forces abroad

The AFRTS, American Forces Radio & Television Service, produce live radio, and TV broadcasts with DNS 201W recorders via satellite feeds to US Army troops in the field.  Located at American Forces Network Kwajalein, in the Pacific, with 3 main networked hubs in Germany, Vincenza, Italy and Soel, Korea, they broadcast to 17 stations throughout Europe including Germany, Italy, Honduras, and Korea.

They capture media by positioning DNS 201W recorders atop of Hum Vee's that can withstand the rough terrain out in the field. They create larger broadcast units on the top of commercial trucks and deploy them into target areas. Their job is to broadcast the news to the areas they serve. They produce a live radio show, acquire video and edit in the field, sending media to the local satellite for broadcasting the daily news to the men and women serving in those countries.
